Rice Paper Logo

I have neglected to put my rice paper logo on the blank prior to laminating. Can I put it on top of the cloth prior to doing filler coat or even put it on before doing the gloss coat. Or should I jusy forget it. Any clues would be helpful.

Put the rice paper logo on top of the glass sticking it down with a thin coat of lam resin. Paint a bit over it to keep the edges from curling. As soon as it gells to a rubbery state, shoot a hot coat just in that area and about 6" 150mm around it. Wait for the hot coat to just gel, then hot coat the entire side of the board. That way you won’t sand through it. Sand it easy in that area. I used to do lots of these in the early '70’s at Rick Surfboards in Hermosa. That way the lay-up color didn’t change the logos, especially on the Natural Progression boards we contracted to glass. They had a spectrum of colors on their logo. Wouldn’t look very good under a purple glass job. (Remember, it was the '70’s!)
