What type of printer and ink can be used on rice paper. I read some of the other responses which state that you can use a “digital” printer; however, almost all printers are digital because of the fact that they interpret information through 1s and 0s. Can you use an ink jet or laser printer? Will the ink bleed or run when the glass is applied? Specifially, what type of pinter can be used to print on rice paper that won’t bleed during the glassing process?|Any information is greatly appreciated.

I just got done shaping a 7’2" funboard for the summer. I used my dad’s epson color 740 and had no problems. The only thing is you got to tape the rice paper ontop of a sheet of printer paper so it can feed. You want to give a ince or two up from the bottom of the printer paper so the printer wheels don’t mess up the rice paper. I had some problems at first, but i figured it out. As for bleeding, i didn’t have any problems with any bleeding from the ink. My logo, has fine line detail, and it came out fine, after glassing. I hope this helps. P.S. I think i also saw someone using a C80 epson. You might want to check. Later, Stephen Berube
Jason, All ink-jet / laser jet printer can print logo on rice paper. I even heard that photo copier can print on it but I never try this. Design your logo in vector format, I like to do it in such way cos you dont need to worry the resolution problem. Done it in reverse ensure that the logo print on the coarse side of the rice paper. Face down the logo and lams it on your board. If you never done it before, try this in a scrap that will help you understand the procedure. I 've tested in few printers, it even work in my cheap low end ink jet. Hopes that it can help you. Regards, Crabie

I just put some printer paper in the tray and place my rice paper on top,it feeds right in to the printer with no problems. I’ll be running off about 80 lams today. Always clean your printer heads before you start.
