Right sized mod-fish for an intermediate grom?

My 11 year old has been riding consistently for a year and a half now. His current board is a typical grom-sized, squash tail thruster (5’3" x 11"N x 17"W x 13 5/8"T x 2") and works well for him. He’s 4’7" and 75 lbs and usually rides head high to double overhead surf. He catches waves fairly well on his own, but I’ll still give him a push when it’s really weak or really throwing.

I switch from my 6’4" shortboard to a 6’3" fish on small, mushy days and I think this has pushed him to wanting to try 1 out for himself. He’s ridden his younger brother’s 5’4" x 16 1/16"N x 19 5/8"W x 15 1/8"T x 2" egg before and didn’t like it (I think all his complaints could be summed up under “too wide of a nose and overall”), so I want to him to step slowly into a fish so if he doesn’t like it, he’s not completely turned off by anything that’s not a typical thruster. So I’m considering a mod fish with the following specs (screenshot below):

Length: 4’10"

Nose: 13 9/16"

Width: 17 3/16"

Tail: 14"

Thickness: 1 7/8"

Tail: Swallow

Fins: FCS Thruster w/G-X fins

I’d appreciate any feedback from anyone fulfilling a similar request from a similarly sized grom.

Aloha,

Steve
