As you might have heard, people are getting there cars either broken into or stolen all together.Basically the thieves are looking for cards, and quick cash. There are 2 ways these a**holes are doing the job 1)watching for you to hide your keys, and 2) drilling ahole(…hummm funny)above the door lock to gain entry. This has reached a all time high since the 70s when it was more common, because of less supervision of the parking lots…If you surf these areas and see something out of the norm…call the police!!! …I usually bring my Aus.cattle dog with me and leave her in the cab(she loves it,no kids to tease her!).I figure the idiot that doesn’t see her with get the business end of her 60lbs body.(she loves to bite!).Maybe I should set-up something with my dog and put my keys under my bumper…whats a few fingers anyway!!!Herb.

Same thing is happening here in Pacifica. I’d like to see someone get caught while in the process. It’d be like a guy robbing a cop bar but there wouldn’t be an angry mob without guns we’d have 6’- 12’ nightsticks.
I surf at H.B. and Bolsa too. I haven’t been hit by these idiots yet, but I’m always paranoid about it. A few dos and don’ts I’ve learned: DO set your alarm if you have one. Roll up all windows, it doesn’t get that hot here in California. Hide your wallet or money in an easy out-of-the-way place. Do keep in mind that someone near may be watching you. Take your vehicle’s key with you, in your leash-holder or wetsuit. And call the police if you get broken into; they can’t do anything if they don’t know about it. Some P.D.s will even check for fingerprints. DON’T leave anything in site that looks like a valuable: wallet, purse, computer case, cell phones etc. And don’t forget to hide your garage door remote. If they steal your remote and get your address from your registration, you know what can happen! Basically pretend that some idiot is going to break into your vehicle. Then make it harder for them.>>> As you might have heard, people are getting there cars either broken into > or stolen all together.Basically the thieves are looking for cards, and > quick cash. There are 2 ways these a**holes are doing the job 1)watching > for you to hide your keys, and 2) drilling ahole(…hummm funny)above the > door lock to gain entry. This has reached a all time high since the 70s > when it was more common, because of less supervision of the parking > lots…If you surf these areas and see something out of the > norm…call the police!!!>>> …I usually bring my Aus.cattle dog with me and leave her in > the cab(she loves it,no kids to tease her!).I figure the idiot that > doesn’t see her with get the business end of her 60lbs body.(she loves to > bite!).Maybe I should set-up something with my dog and put my keys under > my bumper…whats a few fingers anyway!!!Herb.
Herb, sorry to hear about the robberies. Stealing sucks!! The dog thing sounds pretty cool. On the North Shore we would buy the shittiest cars we could find and leave nothing in em and never lock em. Let the brah’s check it out then they would split to go find some tourist cars. aloha

I have one of those dogs too. Sometimes I leave the keys right in the starter. No one messes w/ Duke. One problem is that he likes the beach as much as I do.

A Rhode Island Remedy: You get a few of your bud’s together. The newest & most expensive vehicle parked in the lot with as many boards as possible. Wait and watch. If they attempt to steal boards or break into vehicle, apprehend. Then pray that they try to resist.

Landing the fish is always the hardest part isn’t it? I’ve always like the simple approach myself, Old Pickup, open, nothing in it One key in the suit. But when you work like I do there’s no choice but to lock up and hope for the best. Sometimes a little longer walk is worth it. The world is full of sharks unfortunatey. Best, Rich
