Robert Coneeley??? G&S

Hi guys, found an old board today up in a clients rafters thats a ‘gordon and smith’ and it has a shapers logo on it that says ‘HULL SHAPE BY ROBERT CONEELEY’ just wondering if anyone knows of robert? The bloke whos had it since new said that robert may have shaped with george greenough but even if he didnt you can see the ,greenough influence if you sawed the board in half ( its ok im not going to) it would be a perfect spoon!

Robert Conneely is an old Bondi boy - from the Nat Young era.

Last I heard he was living at Margaret River…

Thanks guys, will post pics once i clean all the 30 year old wax and possum shit off, spent a good few hours reading the hull info, mind blowing stuff Ive got a sub 5ft fish in the works at the moment then im straight into a hull…thinking about the possibilities makes my brain hurt like when i read the steven hawkings books on time travel! cheers

Robert Coneely is a legendary surfer from the early 60’s. He now lives in the Margaret River area and surfs some huge waves. He was originally from the Nat / Midget era, and I think he came from the Palm Beach area of the peninsula. There was an in depth article on him in one of the “Australian Surfers Journals” (only 4 or so issues printed) a few years ago.
