rocker template

hey guys, how do i make a rocker template.

and do i use the same rocker for all size boards?

When I am asked to use the rocker of a previous board, I use scrap stringer material, with it resting nose to tail, scribe the curvature onto it. saw it out and drop it onto the deck or bottom to check fit, adjust if needed. You then have your profile, no you can’t use a rocker temp for all sizes, it must be scaled up or down

Whats your method for scaling? And how far can you scale that rocker in size?

When I am using an existing rocker to go longer, I draw out a new template from the first, stretching it in the center. This is generally the flattest part and will expand easiest.

Going shorter is not as difficult, you can use the existing template, slipping it back and forth for the nose and tail. Really shortening up a shape requires more hands on, as the tail rocker changes, becoming closer to the end of the tail
