rocker

Should rocker be continuous (no flat)? And where is the center? At center of board or center of wide point?

I am digging up info for a bonzer bottom, any sugestions for rocker?

Thanks all

Rocker should be continuous, but back in the day I used straight, and there were some reverse rocker boards out there. Center is middle of the length of the board. Can’t help with bonzer rocker.

This is a good subject to bring up and not discussed that often. At least not in detail.

Check this page out, has some good info on rockers:

Thanks guys. I have a few boards under my belt now, but rocker is something that I am having trouble understanding (what for where) Only 1 board was made with almost flat in the middle. It was a 8’ long/gun/swallow.lol It’s a very fast board until i move towards the nose, then its like i put the brakes on. (live and learn)

The site you sent me to EricG was perfect. Thanks much.

There are definitely others with more experience than I…but I did fit rockers from the early 80s (in Essential Surfing). Rear rocker, starting from the midpoint, is fairly flat. About 18 inches from the tail there is an inflection point, and the board’s rear rocker is mostly carried from there back. Almost like a joint there.

In that book, you will find detailed rocker measurements for a bunch of boards. You can also use the Clark foam catalog to get a handle on it. Rocker will vary with type of board, but there are good generalities that are common. Like, flat in the middle, kick near the tail, nose swoop, etc.

Why does this 8’ board slow when I move towards the nose? The rocker is 5 nose,2 3/4 tail. Its has very slight curve in the center (kinda how blakstah described) the nose has been scooped out some. Like was said it rides fast and turns well but when i move towards the front, its like its plowing the water. This was my first attempt at a longer board.
