6'1 x 100kgs Ross [owner of Longboards Scarborough , here ] has broken with...er.. ' tradition' [?] , and made himself THIS ....
I'll take a tape measure to it soon , but off the top of my head , it's around
5'6 / 5'8
22" / 23" wide
'quite thick'
and the tail and nose looked to be very wide [maybe 18" ?]
big finbox , far forward
deep double concave throughout the board
he has ridden it on three separate occassions , when I last spoke to him .
He said he had his first semi-decent surf on it a few weeks back , at the island . Said it got moving fast , once ON a wave [being that he 'normally' rides 7' and upwards boards , and mals , the paddling would have been the issue]...
to be continued
pray for surf this coming sunday , early morning , eh guys , as the longboard club he runs from his shop will be having a 'board swap ride day' . IF we get with enough swell, hopefully this board [and maybe my 5'8" "bushfire fish" and / or 6'4 Bob Cooper single fin ?] might be able to be ridden ?
Of course [it nearly goes without saying] ..... I'm keen as , to get photos or water footage of it . I'm hoping that li'l Franky may turn up as Ross had him in mind, when he shaped this board . [Frank LOVES riding ALL kinds of stumpy , thick , 'weird' boards , you see !]
cheers !
