round pin vs. square tail

If you were to shape two identicle boards, say two 10’with 16" tails. One had a square tail and the other a round pin, what would be the performance differences between the two? I have heard two completely different storys on this subject. One person says that the round pin would turn easier while the other says its more stiff. Another says the square tail turns easier, while the other says it is more stiff. I have always been under the impression the round pin would be more forgiving in turns. I was going to have a round pin shaped with these dimensions but not if it is stiff like I have been told. HELP!! - Thanks P.V.

I think we have don this before, try to go back on this forum and you might find the answers. Good luck. Peter Rijk

I personally own/ride those dimensions, the crosstep to/from the nose will be stabler with the 5.5 to 8" square as well as hanging ten. Roundpins ‘whip’ a cutback easier(quicker, tighter arc) but are shakey/less stable on the walk to/from the nose and I tend to hurry my crossteps to compensate for the wobble. I’d personally reduce tail to 15" on the square only to put it on edge a little easier, also if hanging ten is the goal. Hanging five is possible on any type longboard.
