The McCallum Quagg is a very nice board.(two-tone brown). It holds very well on a steep faced wave, and it transitions rail to rail much faster than the traditional fish. Call Jeff directly and ask him about the design. He will give you some answers.

Also ride that board short, like a retro fish, because it has similar volume and rocker.

Girvin shapes something similar although the tail on his is more pinninsh...

I’ve had good reactions to concave decks in these and thicker tail rails as opposed to thinner ones like a lot of the boards above.

super duper flow-shred style of board if it’s built lighter (for my taste at least) and shorter, closer to 5’ than 6’ seem to work best

Stop Starting New Threads.

Pick one of your threads and stick with it. All of your questions are valid. Keep them all in one thread. You don't seem to grasp the number of PRO builders that have tried to help you so far.

Buy a blank. Shape a board. Post photos.

You've got to go for it. Your brain has a board in mind. Take it out of your brain and put it on foam...

Do It! Do it now!

No experience riding (yet) or shaping one (yet) but , like you, I have in mind a ’ round tail quad with fish qualities’.

When I do get around to building myself one , I’ll be drawing inspiration from the Von Sol Shadow.

Yes…

…although these are more round-pintails than pure round-tails. Heaps of speed since take-off, more drive than wider tails, smoother through turns, will handle some size better.

if its wide, a vee or double concave in tail helps to get it up on rail....I do a few with deepish double thru the quads...drivey, tons of hold and lift, but gotta get the fins right.....

Balsa, I Like the fuller egg style template of those boards.  On The 5 fin set up is that a bonzer set up or is it something diffrent?

It’s no bonzer, just a very classic flat bottom into slight V between fins. The center Bahne box is here to widen the options: single, single + 2, thruster, quad, fiver, twin, you name it…

Thanks Balsa,  Looks like fun board. With that set up you could learn a lot about the feel of different  Types and fin set ups.  So far what  seems to work best?

Now you're talkin'.  A "round tail stubbie quad".  Exactly!

One of my customers ride his almost exclusively as a single. Another swears by the quad. Just as you said, different types and fins set-ups working differently for different people. For those who don’t want to bother having several boards, it’s a good choice. You just need to take the time to experiment.

Everyone I talk to loves the little eggs. Keep it smiple. I lean towards a concept called rolled bottom 50/50 rail. I like to do a two +1 fin set up. Lots of hippy surfers down here in San Diego riding single fins. My first few eggs were copies of the Walden Compact Disc.

The Blue Bio Foam board is getting passed around. It's a really fun ride. I think it's up in Goleta right now. Here's some photos

I replied to the "other thread".

This is my new 5'8''. Its an eggy template, though it was going to be a fish, hence the small swallow. Its also not a quad, though i may look at putting two more sets of boxes behind those fins, as there might be enough room there. So far, very happy. I never thought my 80kg could paddle a 5'8'', but its 17'' nose x 21 wide x 17+'' tail. 4x44 glass job. Around 3'' nose and 2'' tail rocker. I can't believe how it handles late steep drops, it just locks in, especially backhand.

Im thinking of a 5'8 x 18n x 22 x 17t simms type thing after riding this. Its so much fun.

DO IT! haha.
