Updated formulations for 2011 … CE and Kwik Kick. Cosmetic breakthrough in whiteness and clarity. All other aspects of these systems remain the same. Available now.
If you can get quick kick a little thinner so it wets out faster it will be the stuff, you almost need 2 versions of it…thick and thin, maybe make them compatible.I’m sure thats a tall order but thats the only real issue I’ve ever had with the quick kick, other than fish eyes which Im finding is my fault due to pinholes in the lam,or leftover sanding dust.
Thin the resin with a little heat … 15 seconds in a microwave before mixing in the hardener. Wets out great then. We could thin it but that would make it drain in the summer, drain off rails on hot coats and make it a bit weaker on boards. I know it’s tough to use the same resin in the winter and summer. As a resin manufacturer we have to shoot for something that works all year round.
Do not listen to Jesus. He will lead you astray.
Keep it thick. I like thick.
Also, in the summer, I put the hardner in the frig before mixing to give a little more working time.
all the best,
Hey Greg…
Let’s just say, I wanted to try some of the new “whiter, clearer” C,E. and K.K. resin…
If I were to place an order with either Foam EZ. or Greenlight, how would I know I was getting the new (“available now”) and improved stuff, and not what’s left in their stock…?
I’m not trying to say you or your suppliers would ever try to fleece me, as I know how great your resin is already, and have had nothing but good dealings with at least one of the above mentioned suppliers…
But how could you tell the difference between new and old stock… Are you going to pull back the remaining " not as white, not as clear" stock off their shelves?
I mean no disrespect to you or your suppliers… It’s just a question that comes to mind…
There is probably some of last years left around but the new is getting into the stores pretty quick. We’ve been shipping this for about 3 weeks now so it’ll be everywhere shortly. And you’ll definitely see a difference.
It’s funny Greg … seems so many people want me to tweak the formulations now just for them … like, “Well, I’d be really happy is you did this one little thing just for me.” Gotta use a little creativity to be a great builder. The stuff we use is rarely ideal … not the foam, not the cloth, not the resin either. Gotta figure out how to make it ideal for your use … like friging the hardener. That’s a good one. If you did the resin it’d be wayyy too thick, pain to mix. But doing the hardener … brilliant. But all in all I have to tell you, it was guts up to post, “Do not listen to Jesus. He will lead you astray.”on the internet in this day and age . Your gonna get quoted for sure.
can’t say that I’ve ever given that advice before. Def saying my prayers tonight.
hey, seriously, great that you are still tweaking the chemistry. Can’t wait to try it. I am close to establishing a std lam plan, one for bamboo and one for non-bam. Loving Xglass. All the best
Greg, how can you tell the difference? Can you tell by just looking at the resin in the bottle? Or are you saying you can tell the difference when you use it? Just wondering if the resin I got yesterday is the newer version. Thanks, Nick
Hey Kiterider,
We just received our shipment of the new KK and CE resins on Thursday. All shipments from here on out will absolutely be the new resin. I’ve pulled the remaining previous stock and is now in my resin cabinet for my personal boards. No worries, hope we can continue to have good dealings with you
All the best
~Brian
Gotta try some swirls…
Did you just "dis" Jesus?
Greg that is great news! At least we can take care of the vanity issue.
Kind regards,
Michael
“Surfding”
No, didn’t dis him. Jesus is just alright with me.
It’s ok,I’ve been known to be a false profit on occasion.I actually had trouble signing up for sways with my original name, after trying several names that were not accepted I said f-it,if they don’t accept jesus I just won’t hang with those cats. Not only was the screen name accepted a few generous board members even sent me cool gifts and such, and I’ve been stoked ever since.
And I always read your posts, Jesus. No greater compliment here, I think.
Exactly right … there is that and this will solve that issue. Always seemed to me that boards are for riding … shows how little I understand surfers even after all these years. Funny 10 years ago I was told that our boards were too white. Now there’s no such thing as too white. I was able to do this without effecting anything else about the resin so …

Howzit Greg, If they want it thinner just stick the drum out side in the sun in the summer and send it to them,ha,ha. The heat should do the trick, as for winter orders tell them they have to wait til June. Aloha,Kokua
