RR in Oz...but.

Hi all,

Have been asking around about RR epoxy in Australia and apparently it is in the country but unfortunately the company that is importing it will not sell the product to others.

With their new tech surely acting as a distributor could not adversely affect business in any way?

It seems there is not enough demand at the moment for a distributor in Australia.

Anyone else in Australia used this resin, and is it as good as has been stated by those in other parts of the world?

If it is as good as the reports, why wouldn’t we have jumped on this stuff from the get go? Even from the health point of view.

I have asked the good folk from Shapers Aust. about it and the quantities they would have to import make it not a very wise investment at the moment.

I can’t seem to get a response from the website, but if a few more enquiries went through from this part of the world surely we may get some attention.

The potential for extra business must make it worthwhile to ship to a country that produces as many boards as Australia?

Cheers

Daren

it’d be great if we could get it here.

…yes , it certainly seems odd that with hundreds , if not thousands of [backyarders also] board builders in Australia , we can’t get the stuff ?? […?maybe only a handful of "professional " surfboard manufacturers in australia are actually making epoxy glassed boards , I wonder ??]

Especially frustrating when people tell me the stuff I have used , and hicksy has used , and I’m sure others here in Oz have used …“west systems” , and “araldite” , is , apparently way below the quality of RR epoxy .

I , for one , would LOVE to give the resin research stuff a go , to satisfy my own curiousity … and if it is great , I would CERTAINLY be telling others !

hmmmmmmm …

or maybe we will never get to use it here ???

ben

nothing wrong with the aussie west systems orr international resin or boat coat

etc etc etc

i use atl ADR280 and its great

it may be just me but i think it would be better to buy a resin made locally

other wize you will paying huge dollars for shipping

while id like to try it

it doesnt make any sense to me to buy it if its imported from the states

Sabs makes unreal composite boards that are sub 2 kg and strong as

and just uses westsystems as far as i know.

and believe me, he knows epoxies and composites.

maybe we get better quality hardeners for west over here??

I’d give it a go if I had the chance.

I wonder why they’d import it just for one company…who is the company anyway…

oh its for a new composites company

whats it called again

um
