I heard the ResinX ones work well with epoxy as well as ResinX for fill coating. Does anyone know of where to buy the same ones off the rack? Would be just as easy to buy one than make one I’m assuming. Still cannot get epoxy fill coats to lay flat with just a brush. In fact I cannot get them to lay flat period! Thinning with meths, Add F etc. Still cannot get a smooth fill coat with epoxy!!
surely it must be temperature then if you cant get it to lay flat.
Epoxy fill coat should flow even better than a poly.
I always throw in 2-3% wax in styrene to kinetix and it flows and settles like a gloss coat.
Dean, technique, it's technique.
I think you could be right. Cheers.
as I understand it,,,,,
1 the lam is the layup of glass and resin or epoxy
2 a fill coat or cheater coat is resin without S/A, or epoxy, used to baste the lam to aid in filling or sealing the lam and or overlaps, usualy applied with squeegee and doesnt look all that nice, apply sand coat before total cure.
3 sand coat is resin with S/A or epoxy with additive F ,,brushed on tipped out and left to level out and cure, usualy comes out nice and smooth, especially when applied over a fill coat.
4 gloss coat, do I need to explaine???
