Rusty Bob

I was going to order my custom flyer today but found out it was going to take 2-3 months for me to get the board.Anyways, the guy at the shop said that they were going to get in a Rusty Bob next week with the similar dimensions that I want in my custom Flyer.He pretty much said the Bob was Rusty’s version of CI’S Flyer.So, has anyone ever ridden one or know anything about the board?I’ve got to decide whether I’m going to wait for a Flyer or basically get the same kind of board next week.thanks,steve

The name Bob has been represented in Popular Culture for the last

twenty years as moronic, nerd, etc

Seems to have been an escalating trend for at least the past

10 years.

to name a few examples:

Microsoft Bob : much like the PaperClip in MS, but this was

supposed to be an OS with Training Wheels on it.

I tried to look for a Rusty Bob on the internet briefly,

couldnt find it???

But somehow the ‘Rusty Bob’ if I’m imagining correctly

sounds like the perfect board that a Surf School would want

to buy…stricly beginners.

Of course I’m prBoBaly wrong!

You’ll probably be perfectly happy with BOB. Looks clean, good bottom, flow, etc. No, it’s not a beginner board, It’s a board for people that realize a 2 inch thick, 18 inch wide board isn’t optimum for most conditions.

I thought the stoopid Bob was spelled ‘Bawb’?

The board can be found on the Rusty website(stay away from the fabrics/girls part, it’s not good for you…) under foam/fiberglass and small wave boards. Good luck.

“bob” is THE most moronic name/model for a surfboard.

And that is the problem. Boards don’t need names or models just basic shape descriptions (egg, fish, gun, thruster, noserider, etc…) and some dimensions.

You see, the shop pimp was trying to move stock and wasn’t stoked on a custom order.

A custom board is one of the pinnacles of surfing, but to most “soft-goods marketers” (surf shops) they: don’t move existing stock and require extra attention.

Isn’t Bab also the name for the deity if you’re of the Bahai faith? True story: a flaky pal blabbed about converting to Bahai. So we asked him, isn’t that where your car horn goes "Baaaa-haaaa–uuuuu—la?

FWIW his car was a crapped out '64 bug. Dave was about 6’2" 190 pounds, solid muscle ear to ear. Still remember him going over the falls at Gas Chamber, locked in iron man stance all the way down. Poor bugger later got hooked on something prescription and faded away.

Just go to a local shaper and talk to them about what you want. It is a much better way to go, cheaper, faster and more fullfiilling. Al Merric is a great shaper, but your probably not going to be able to sit down and talk to him about what shape would be best for you.
