I’ve heard the following stuff about the boards: 1) they’re lighter than a 4oz glass job but stronger 2) they’re not so good at wave catching. 3) they’re better at wave catching. 4) eventually you’ll be able to have a mould made of your own fave board (by salomon) and have it sent to a glasser of your choice. 5)you’ll be able to control how much flex you’ve got. 6)you ca nglass them with epoxy or pu. 7)they’re faster than normal boards. Interested in knowing if any of the above are true or false, esp by people who’ve ridden the things.
the aluminum, mold costs 30,000.00$ Looks like I’m out of the loop
Most of what you asked is true. What are, probably, the most important aspects are strength to weight, which is better, and controlled flex. But Jim and the rest of us may NOT be out of the loop. There is an similar alternitive in the works that will be more shapable.
It seems like last year there was more photos of guys on the S-core. The blue color was a giveaway. But no recent pictures of Kelly or any of the top guys have revealed s-core boards. Are they having a hard time getting “the feel” right, similar to the way the pros are using more glass on fins?
S core seems like a really nice idea, long overdue. Seems to have the support of some very good shapes also.
