So I’d like to take a stab at shaping a board and not having to cleanup dust and foam bits from my garage for the next month. Are there any good CNC mchines in San Diego? I’ve played around with AKU but only the free version. I spoke to the guy at Mitch’s and he said he would do a one off for me but I needed a full file from Shape 3-D. Can I make a full file easily and with the free download? I’d hate to have to purchase the full software just for a few boards a year. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can. In fact, if you’re already somewhat familiar with AKU, go ahead and design your board using that software as I feel it’s a bit easier/more intuitive to use. You can then open your AKU file using Boardcad (another free software) and save it as a Shape3d file.
Or find the nearest AKU cutting center in SD (check the AKU shaper website) and send them your native AKU file.
