SAN DIEGO SWAYLOCKS SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY (JAN 15th)

Ok, I know its short notice but we need to get together again. I will be shaping/glassing on Sunday and anyone who wants to show up, well, get there! Let’s say 10 am to 3pm or ???

Can do burgers and beer as well, like last time.

Mark Scott left some epoxy in my garage so who knows what will get built. Oh yeah, I seem to have a big pile of balsa laying around too…

Anyone who needs directions, let me know.

great stuff Keith !

I hope you get a great turn out , and that some nice eps epoxy boards [?with resin swirls please ?] get done ! …I look forward to hopefully seeing some photos …

you’re a legend !

ben

Hey Ben - we’ll try to remember to take some pictures for you. Maybe someday you can make it over to California, eh?

Keith,

Would you post, or PM the address for us.

Sure thing!

count us in. we are going down to mexico this weekend so we should be in town and ready to learn for next weekend. see you soon. Darren

If anyone has a sander they could bring to show a gremmie how to sand an epoxy hotcoat, I’d appreacate it a lot.

A few spots are pretty think, due to some attempt at a touch up, so I’d be happy to give you a couple bucks if it kills your paper.

Cheers,

Austin

There was a decent turnout of guys at the Swaylocks get-together at Keith’s place. Thanks to Keith and his family for opening up their house to the Swaylocks madness once again!

Our host.

Some people will do anything to keep from using EPS!

A few more pics of the team effort on the 1# EPS blank.

and

Austin working on his Roy Stewart inspired balsa board (great job for his first board!).

That was fun…Thanks for all the tips. I came home and finished polishing. I’m happy with the board… And thanks again Keith for your hospitality (and Schurlustre!)

Thanks Keith, for hosting the get together. I learned some new things . . . Lots of stuff going. Saw gorilla glue in action, hot wire, even hot wire snap. You could use a battery charger for your hotwire bow. Lots of great information passed on. hot wire goes slow . . . Picked up some tidbits on sanding . . . Also I realized how fast you could crank out EPS . . . Keith and Jesus (or was it Jesse? sorry I got info overload), got a good thruster shape from the hotwire really fast with planer and sanding blocks. Got to check out Austin’s cool balsa board, really great.

10over’s board came out really nice with the polish, was diggin it. 4fins was down for the EPS.

Thanks for everyone that showed up.

Thanks to Keith for hosting such an awesome get together.

And to all of the other people who gave me cool stuff.

I hope everyone enjoyed my Mom’s white chocolate cheese cake : )

Here are a few shots I took…

Keith shaping with a jointer…

A new hybrid…

a few more “piccies”…

boards

Resinhead, upset at everyone finding out where Pickleweed Point is…

Some 1lb EPS from Vern (thanks Vern!) and a bodyboard (recycled broken longboard) getting some cushioning.

Here’s Austin (Rhino) sanding out epoxy (he thought it was lumpy, we all thought it was pretty darn good for a first glass job)!

talk story in the board room…

rocker template, rocker template, how are we gonna make this rocker template??

Keith,

Thank you for another great day at the ranch!

Next is to get that board glassed

Thanks again Mark

Keith,

Great get together. Looks like you guys had fun with that eps, too bad I could’nt fit more in the vehicle. Thanks to you and your family for the hospitality and the balsa! -matt

Let’s see…beer, sharp tools, beer, noxious chemicals, and now electricity! Another Swaylock’s classic! Sorry I missed it.

It looks like Jesus and maybe Rhino worked on the boards , and everyone else drank ??? Thanks for the photos guys !
