Hi folks, I diy a foam pad for my 4500 rpm disc sander. The sander bundles with a 5" rubber pad. I used an 1 1/2" foam pad glue into another 7" rubber pad, that combination lowers the rpm from 4500 to 2500. This afternoon I used 120 grit sand paper to attach on the foam pad to sand off the FCS plugs. It started to melt the plug and left dirty spots on the board. Here two questions need your help : 1) For sanding off the plugs, which grit of sand paper should be used? 2) For sanding after hotcoat, which grit of sand paper should I use? Thanks for any inputs. Regards, Crabie

For sanding I start with 80 grit for laps then 100 - 220 w/d - 320 w/d. if you are doing a gloss then stop after 100 grit. To small a grit at high rpm will cause melting of plugs. Aloha, Kokua
