i just received some dcell but the order messed up somehow. instead of h60(green) rails and h80(grey) top/bottom its the other way. did somebody use it this way and what is the experience? can i use it as delivered or would it be better to mix with balsa on top or bottom? the glas would be 3/3bottom 3+patch/3+patch on top.
I’ve only used the gray, but I think you’ll be better off that way, green skins. The more composites I put together, the more convinced I am that panel stiffness & compound curves make more of a difference than rail material does. My stiffest boards have had the thickest skins, not the strongest rails. The worst, stiffest, deadest-flexing board I made had gray d-cell skins. Like a 20 lb surftech - a disaster on all fronts. Go with the green, or balsa, or corecell, or no skins like Drew Tang’s … anything but D80 for the panels!
thanks benny, i’ll try it. my first 2 boards have 3mm(1/8) yellow h70-80 and flex like hell so i was more worried about flex return and to much flex as the next boards get thinner it might even be good this way. so top/bottom and rails in mint-greeen should look cool.
