Sandia National Lab brand surfboards

NEWSPAPER REPORTER LOOKING FOR EAST BAY SURFERS I’m the science reporter at the Contra Costa Times, and I’m looking for some local surfers for a story. Sandia National Lab in Livermore has developed a foam for use with nuclear weapons that the inventors think would be ideal for surf boards. They’ve tweaked it to match many of the physical properties of Clark Foam, and it has the added benefit of being environmentally friendly and non-toxic (no TDI). They’re looking for businesses to partner with to manufacture blanks and I was hoping to get thoughts of local surfers about this idea. What do you think about material from nuclear weapons research being used for surf boards? How do you feel about the closing of Clark Foam and the hole that has left in the industry, and how would you like to see the void filled? What was so special about Clark Foam? Is there an emotional attachment to the product in the surfing community? I’m hoping to find some residents of Contra Costa County, but Alameda County is fine too, and if you feel you have something especially insightful or relevant (or funny) to tell me, anywhere in the Bay Area will do.

Thanks to a friend in the east bay for the note.

My computer tells me this everytime I boot it up…

Maybe this new type of board should do the same everytime you put your hands on it…

If the foam is that great

it probably can do that and every thing else as well…
