I know ya gotta lightly sand the acryllic pins with #220 but what about posca graphics? Actually, it’s just dimensions along the stringer and logo cross the top that were done in posca. I’d hate to not sand them and then have the gloss resin separate over them! Since the posca is so much thinner, how about lightly sanding with #320?
…I sand posca PINLINES with 2500 grit…
Howzit 220, I never sand them,Poscas, zigs or india ink. Not necessary. if it’s the little lip left from the tape off I just run my wall paper seam tool over them to flatten them down so the gloss resin will flow over evenly. But if you do sand them make sure you get all the residue off the board or the pinlines will look like they bled.Aloha, kokua

My pins were done a la Harbour method, so sanding “is” neccessary. The posca is some hand written sruff, not really graphics. Since it was done in cursive, they are some little bumps, I guess I’ll try to scruff them up a little - last time, I didn’t and the gloss resin separated all over it. Thanks.
Howzit 220, I’ve done those kind of pin lines also, but once again no sanding. If you feel you need to sand then try scuffing it first with a green pad instead. Another trick would be to use 233+ tape since it is thinner so the pin wouldn’t be to thick which is the problem. I would still use the wall paper seam roller tool to press it down. Another thing is sometimes even though the gloss resin seperates there is still enough resin to do the sanding / rub out and not go through the gloss. Or another thing is when you do the gloss try to make sure the last brush stroke goes over the pin. But my best tool for this is the seam roller tool. One more thing I just thought of is pull the tape as soon as you finish applying the paint so the edges might lay down, don’t let the paint dry before pulling tape. That’s about all that’s in my bag of tricks,I Don’t have problems with pinlines. Aloha,Kokua
…i dont know about the Kokua s method, but seems good to me…but you dont have any problems sanding with 2500 grit, …to eliminate those sharp edges…
obviously, then you need to clean with a paper towel…not too much, in 20 seconds you clean everything…
