Screen Printing and Alternatives to Rice Paper

Are there any alternative to Rice Paper when using a Screen Printed Logo for glassing?

Bad things that I’ve found happening with rice paper are…

Rice paper shows through on dark colors.

Doesn’t yellow as fast.

Some kind of transparency paper maybe?

I’m using EPS/ RR Epoxy

Thanks

Rick.

I know about “Silky Heavy” which is better for Dark painted/tinted boards.

Just wondering if there are any other (better) options

bleach-free tissue paper.

not sure about silkscreened, but works great off the ol’ inkjet printer.

What ever it is its got to be:

  1. Able to absorb the resin easily.

  2. Compatible with the kind of resin your using.

  3. If your using an inkjet, be able to be fed thru your printer without jamming or the heads crashing into it while printing.

Back during my backyarder days I used to take silkscreened window stickers and glass them between 2 layers of glass and never had a problem. I’ve seen it done between the glass and the foam and blister up when the board was left out in the sun.

I’ve had people come in and insist on having stuff they printed on bond paper with their inkjet glassed on their customs. That works on a clear area of the board.

People have come in with playing cards, wedding invites, coins, panties, leather, pot leaves, insects- you name it. If they’re willing to pay…

Some swaylocker have had good result running fiberglass thru their inkjets.

Molded boards actually have the logos silkscreen directly to them.

Snowboards, Skis and Skateboard have the art sublimated on and then finished with a clear coat. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work on the sanded hot coat.
