Just tried to contact Seabase in UK who have always supplied my blanks, resin etc BUT website and email unreachable!! Anybody know what’s up, have they closed down because if so it’s a big blow to hobby board builders like me
Last time I ordered there, they had trouble with the system so my order got lost somehow. Hopefully they fix it now.
Website says its “maintenance mode”. try to send an email to the French one. They answered me really fast last time.
Are you UK based? If you are in continental Europe there are other vendors too, that sell blanks
Hi thanks for getting back.
Yep I am in UK, JERSEY in the CI in fact, so do have difficulty get supplies here. Just tried the French site and it says they are in “maintenance mode” like you say so fingers crossed they sort it. I will try phoning if they don’t get back online soon.
Seabase is going to be sold by its owner so something is going on…
Me too had trouble with the email. The French emails don’t arrive
Cheers
Ahhhhhhh I thought there must be something going on. Let’s hope the sale goes thru speedily so I can get blanks, resin etc for the new year board haha.
Hi Pete. I am also in Jersey. Ordered surfboard supplies from Seabase a month ago. They happily took my GBP380 but I have had 0 contact from them. No emails. No phone calls. Can’t contact them either.
I have moved to CFS for epoxy and Ocean Magic for blanks. Although the delivery charge per blank seems to be upwards of GBP 80!
It is a bit weird. I have never had problems before but even emails sent to them have been returned as not delivered.
I am thinking of using TRIOCEAN Surf but not sure if they deliver to Jersey. Will have to give them a call.
Triocean only deliver to mainland uk acording to their website. VIRAL has stopped delivering to Jersey. East Coast fibreglass will not deliver epoxy to Jersey. I have been through all the suppliers. Only one stilldoing blanks to Jersey is Ocean Magic. Only people still doing RR epoxy to jersey is CFS. Easy Composites will deliver to Jersey but I find their epoxy difficult to use. Brilliant customer service though.
I thought that was the case with TRIOCEAN but might give them a phone to check. I use UV poly resin not epoxy so will have to find a supplier for that too!!
If I have to I could get it sent to my sons in Birmingham (of all places) and pick up when I visit but what a pain!!
Gooodluck! Ill let you know how my deliveries pan out
Thanks, I willl let you know how I get on too.
I have to go to seabase hossegor next week, it’s my main supplier for long time, i’ll ask what happened
That would be amazing!!!
They are such big suppliers I can’t believe they have stopped trading completely.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Update on delivery to Jersey: Ocean Magic delivered two Burford blanks yesterday which look to be good quality. Great customer service.
Still no response from Seabase. Will send them a statutory letter of demand in coming days.
That is great news even if delivery was a bit pricey. Triocean surf won’t deliver to Jersey, you were right !! Can pick up in UK obviously which I might do next time I visit my son there. CFS also seem to do a poly surfboard resin too so that should be OK and delivery seemed reasonable specially if you order cloth at same time.
So it seems we can still get stuff here in Jersey but I will miss the convenience of a ‘one stop shop’.
Yup both used Channel Seaways for delivery. DHL seems to have become insanely expensive (GBP 400 for two blanks)
Ahhh I wondered why CFS could be cheaper for delivery.
So I have had an update from Seabase in France. Apparently UK outlet is definitely closed. The French one will stay open and they are working on bringing the UK website back online and making a new French one but not for a few months!! They also advised that shipping from France will definitely be more expensive!!
Apparently if you email the French site they will give you quote, as long as you know exactly what you want.
So there we have it, the end of easy access board construction supplies.
So it’s finished for seabase uk. I hope it will go well for french seabase…
yeah thats a shame tbh… East Coast Fibreglass sell RR resin and Aerialite cloth plus volan cloth… think ill give em a bell
