Seeking advice from some masters

I am going to be shaping a blank that I haven’t done before, and I wanted some advice. I have been asked to model a board on the following Hobie design with some changes, but the blank will be exactly as linked here:

My questions reguard mostly advice dealing with the 1.5 inch center stringer and any problems it might present.

Thanks in advance.

I know it’s cheap and lazy, but I just use a curved sureform.

Jeremy,

Hopefully you have an electric planer to rough it out. If so you’ll want to use a really really sharp block plane for the finish work. Check out the “how to sharpen a block plane blade” thread.

Bing. Oh yeah. Ill be using my Skil. I was more concerned with the finish work. I should have prefaced that.

Sharp planes, sharper than hell, set extremely shallow, so shallow as to not scar the foam, but send up a curl from the plane so thin that you can see through it and as soon as you feel a sanding block touch the stringer, block it down again

JimtheGenius. Where do you shape in Encinitas? While I’m mostly in Oside, I make it down there quite a bit.
