Whats up guys, I am wondering if i am using a shitty power planer for making surfboards? It is a mikita and for some reason it has a hard time skinning the blanks, but as soon as i get through the skin it is like a foam blower. In all honesty it doesnt seem to want to cut the skin at all, multiple passes before it even thinks a making a cut. Now for the big question, I have read some archives that say i shouldnt make my rail bands with my surform and should use my planer instead. I seem to have trouble with the nose and tail of my boards when the planer comes in to play.i think its just my inexperience with using the planer and applying to much pressure. I apperciate any advice Thanks, Trevor

When skinnin, set it full depth, go slow, let it bite. Rail shaping, set it shorter, tri to make multiple bevels.

skin with a block p;ane it comes away in curls…ambrose…8’long an the core foam is still 1/4" away

Trevor, are your blades sharp? Check them.
