Selling A Board?

I could not find any guidelines in the surfshop section of Swaylocks that spell out the proper procedure for listing a board for sale.

Can anyone give me the info I need?

TIA

Use the "selling a Broad " app.

Thanks, huck. Not exactly what I was asking.

I was hoping that someone among the membership here might add a little insight to the process.

I had no trouble finding the ‘surfshop’ page and all, just looking for some possible tips on the best approach.

I managed to work my way through the clunky menu of entries and posted the board. It’s a 10’ Hynson Red Fin in pretty good condition.

Not my board. Just trying to help a person I know find a buyer.

If we can sell our broads on here, I’d like to put mine on consingment or a nice trade.

She’s 5’9 about 130lbs skinny blonde 32 years of age. Talks a real lot. Open to quieter trades.

I don’t think I could give mine away.  But if you want something with a few more pounds on her PM me.  You can get her off the couch by waving some pot under her nose.

That is a really nice board. Do you have the serial # ? I could check my old invoices and get an approximate date.

looks like 9545 right next to the logo

Sammy, wish I could pull the trigger on this one but I was hoping it was your Hot Curl going on the market. Grabbed a Hansen Competitor from Jacko a few weeks ago, pretty stoked on that.

Gordon & Smith invoice # 00102 date 4/5/67 to Keller’s Surf Shop Lavallette, N.J. shows serial # 9545 9’10" Hynson Model $136.00

There are some Frye models and Midget models on the same invoice.

This would have been at the end of the run for the original redfins. By summer the shop was stocking the HY IIs. The wider lighter model with two offset thinner stringers.

I’ll try to scan and upload the invoice when I have time.

Thanks, Bill.

Funny it’s listed as a 9’10". I told the owner to take an accurate measurement of it and they said 10 foot, one half inch, exactly. I had a feelng it was probably a '67.  Good to know.

It would be cool to see the invoice. Will pass the info on to seller.

I would buy it, myself, if it wasn’t so damn big. I only acquire boards I will ride, these days. Had a 10’ Hobie Noserider a whle back. Too damn big. No fun to ride. Sold it.

If this Red Fin was more like 9’4" I’d be really tempted.

What a resource this place is. Wow

All the best

Maybe they measured the bottom? Would be a little longer not 2 1/2" though.

Maybe the girl (I think it was Candy, bookeeper Millie’s daughter) writing out the invoice got it wrong. It’s hand written but very legible. Or maybe the card said 9’10 but the board came out 10. Maybe cards got switched. Anything can happen in a surfboard factory. Ask Jim Phillips.

We always measured the boards before we marked them at Keller’s. Don’t know that we even looked at the invoice. Pretty sure we didn’t. The wholesale price was a closely guarded secret that every shop grem didn’t get to see.

I was pleasantly surprised to see I had the actual invoice. Expected to find similar ser #s on various invoices and date it approximate.

It would be interesting to see the original retail sales slip to see what it was sold as.

24" is too wide too. These were 21 1/2 to 22" wide. The HY IIs would be closer to 24.

The fin is the giveaway that it’s later vintage. The first fins were a fuller. Check the iconic shot by Stoner of the boards on the car at The Ranch to see the first fins.

I simply guessed at all the other dimensions. (N, T, W, thickness) Current owner does not surf and it was difficult just to talk her through the process of taking pictures.  I just filled in the rest of the info to get through the clunky process of placing the ad. That whole interface could be a lot more streamlined. It’s painful.
