For those who haven’t heard, Surftech runs these “demo days” where they show up at various beaches and let surfers try the different Surftech board models. I learned that one of these events was going to be held at my local beach so I went to check it out.
While watching them set up the tents and boards, I was surprised to see that the Surftech reps and employees were wearing Clark Foam t-shirts?!?! It wasn’t until I took a second look that I realized they weren’t Clark T’s at all. Rather someone had copied Clark’s logo but replaced the letters, “Clark Foam” with “Tuflite”! I’m guessing it was someone’s idea of humor. I personally thought they were in bad taste. Especially since there was no witty caption or punchline screened on the shirts. I can only hope these weren’t sanctioned by Surftech. Shame!
Platelunch, Gordy Clark is going to have to live with some ribbing for awhile. He pulled the rug out from under loyal clients, many of whom are still wondering exactly what happened. Going out of business is one thing. Doing it like he did showed a huge disregard for the people who supported his business.
A little jab here and there isn’t going to hurt Mr. Clark.
To his credit, when he was in business, he did what he did very well. Ordering a blank with custom rockers and custom stringers was easy. And delivery within one to two weeks. Couldn’t beat that.
But that was then. I’m interested in “Whatever’s Next”. Doug
That would be great for us all that are working for the advancement in design and sport ,to wear tech T-Shirts. But you are wrong when you say you are nothing and think you don’t matter .I believe that you do matter! so stay tuned ,the sport needs you and new ideas that work better for surfing the waves we all love.
