Shape 3-D help please....

I have never used a computer program for design or shape but a recent request has led me down that path… I need a specific blank for a prone paddleboard that simply is not available on a retail basis.

I downloaded Shape 3-D ‘Lite’ and have been able to get my basic rocker/thickness profile. That’s really all I need as I’m hoping USBlanks can hot wire me a custom sled cut using my file. Where I’m running in to trouble is with ‘gaps’ in the bottom rocker line… I’ve tried shifting the various control points around (with some improvement) but I’m still seeing gaps in my rocker line.

I’m assuming that the program will not automatically fill these gaps in and that this is a matter of user error.

Any ideas for a first time Shape 3-D user?

Hi John, sounds like a fun project for you.

Could be a screen resolution error or a real representation of your design.
I’ve never had a rocker with gaps.

Check that all your intermediate control points are “continuous” (the first option in the icons on the right) and the green and blue handles extend in opposite directions with green to the tail and blue to the nose.

The software starts “New” with a complete shape. Try creating a “new” shape and then modifying it to your requirements. The easiest place to do this is in the /Board/Properties where you can set width, thickness and rocker endpoints.
