Shape3D Column Meaning of Rail Marks of the Shape Lines.

Greetings,

In Shape3D Lite I am trying to understand what the columns of the Marks of the Shape Lines represent. The Manual states "See screen Plan/Shape plans 1 and 2 to understand the meaning of the columns.", however this must be in the commercial version. Yet all the numbers are given in the Plan Section>Marks>Shape Lines of the Lite version. I would like to use them to lay out accurate rail apex points and cutting bands.

From the Shape3D Tutorial:

"Shape lines: Marks of the shape lines. See screen Plan/Shape plans 1 and 2 to understand the meaning of the columns.Origin of the coordinate system (related to the foam loaf after hot wire cutting):
S1Y, A1Y, A1y, and A2y: represent the middle of the loaf.
S1Z, S2Z, A1z, and A2z: represent the lower edge.
S2Y: represent the exterior edge."

However in looking at these numbers, they don't make sense. Any idea what S1Y, A1Y, A1y, A2y, S1Z, S2Z, A1z, A2z and S2Y are?

Thanks.

The point is to draw the S1 and S2 plans lines first (on a hot wired blanks), and cut the plans (image 1). Then you can draw the A1 and A2 plans lines, and cut the secondary plans to get closer to the final shape (image 2).

Hi

I am using the latest free version of Shape3D X and when I check The Shaping Plan I think that it gives me wrong numbers.

The units are in cm and you can see the the numbers for S2Y in the range of -22cm that should be wrong in the middle sections of the board.

The same for the values for A2Z or S2Z for the nose and Tail sections.

Using the second attached image as gide:

It should not be easier to do first the (F1Y to A2Z) cut and then use the D1 distance to do the second cut with F2Y?

and if needed a third cut using D2 distance and F3Y point

how you guys are doing your rail cuts?

I am printing slices at 1:1 escale and drawing by hand the cuts to get the shaping plan numbers.

Regards

Adrian

You’re right! The Z value is from the ground instead of being from the bottom of the slice. It’ll be corrected in the next update 9.0.7.9.
