Are there any shapers in the Houston, TX area?

Try Tim Claseman at Mongrel Surfboards in Corpus Christi. He also sells blanks. I think it is mongrelsurfboards@alt.net
Didn’t know he was still in the surf business.
I bought my first blank at BJ’s on Katy Rd. in 1969 or 1970 – that shop and those times are long gone. Got my glassing supplies at Industrial Waterproofing, long gone too probably.
Hello BgSurfer,
To my knowledge BJ is still building boards. He was working on a couple of very nice wood boards when I was in his shop about a year ago. I bought some Styrene and a few yards of cloth from him. Nice guy, talked to him for a while and he gave me some tips on repairing some stress fractures on my board. Don't remember exactly how to get there, but he is in a warehouse near I-10 inside of the 610 loop.
I used to get supplies from the Glass Factory in Galveston, was near Moody Gardens.... has been a while. I mostly mail order these days, time permitting.
Regards,
Montie
I don’t get to Houston often. Been gone a long while. Your link had that shot of BJ’s shop brought back some memories. Locked In was just down the road a few blocks, where I bought my first commercial board, not the classic surf shop BJ’s was.
Was in Houston last June. Visited the only classic surf shop remaining from the 60s – Surf House. Had several old pictures of Surfside, brought back many memories also. But the Pier and Octagon House are long gone.

I think Bob Martin is still shaping in Galveston.
