Shaping concaves bottom

Hello craftsmen!

I am buiding an egg 7"6’ x 22" x 3" for a friend got a few questions concerning the build:

Note: i am following the natural concave of the blank.
1- my friend wants a vee on the bottom for the tail considering a thruster setup with fcs 2 boxes
Center fin starts at 4"
Side fins start at 13"
Edge ending arround 8 inches after the side fins end.
The question is:

  • going in the direction of the tail where do i start shaping the vee?

2- are the choice of fin placement and edge ok, or is there some adjustment that would benefit the board?

3- any other features in terms of concave that would benefit the egg malibu board?

Cheers and good waves.

Next time shape the vee onto the bottom before you even template the blank. With an egg you’re good as long as you have the vee. On a 7’6 I’d move the trailing edge of the side fins back an inch or so. That’s if it is to be ridden as a thruster. If they are for side bites, on a 7’6 i’d set them up at 14 and a half. I don’t understand what is meant by the edge you’re referring

Hello, for me edge is the part of the tail where the rails are not round in the bottom.
Cheers and good waves.
Maybe there is another name for it?
