I was wonder why shaping machine prices are still so expensive. I understand that CNC machines for machining metal to very close tolerances aren’t even as expensive as surfboard shaping machines. Why are they so expensive still?
Fine Tuning something to shape foam and fine tuning something to shape metal are completely different fruits. Now, I’m not saying I know why some surfboard shaping machines outprice certain other machines - but there is definately more of an abundance of metal shaping machines than surfboard shaping ones. Get my drift? Who knows?

How much do you reckon surfboard machines cost?
And how much do you think a CNC plus software control costs, generally?
I have had a machine on site now for almost a year. I love it and don’t know how I lived without it. I Have the 3DM cutter by John Yow (www.shape3d.com). was more $ than some other systems, and I don’t use it to it’s capacity yet. But I think it is still worth more than I spent. Complete system was $75,000. (cutter, dust collection, control cabinet, software, install and training).
