What is it? I have heard of angles ranging from 45 to 55 degrees. What is best for pu blanks? How do the cutting characteristics differ with blades at 45 vs. 55?
Are planning on sharpening your own? The blade with a 55 degree angle will shave a thinner ribbon than the 45 deg. but really, with surfboards the difference is negligible. If you want to home sharpen use a jig to maintain the angle. Flatten the back of the blade first on the stone. The angle of attack isn't nearly as important as sharpness.
Yeah I am sharpening them. I did it once before using the jig method where I just replicated the existing angle out of a piece of teak. Don’t recall what that was off hand. Guess I’ll go with that again since it worked well and changes sound negligible. I was just curious if a different angle might offer some advantage, or not. Thanks for the info.
