Shelby

Hi Herb -

Sorry to hear of your buddy's end. It's tough I know, but it's easy to put the possitive spin on a good dog's life. They are the best in so many ways.

I’ll never forget the story Ray Kunze told us, while we were way outside at Drakes. He was hard of hearing, so he talked loudly. He goes on to talk about his old dog Ralph, and how he wished he could have cloned him w/ his old girl friend so he could have the best of both worlds.

Maybe, that story should have been told for the girl friend thread a few days ago ;).

Keep your chin up.

Was going to send a pm when I saw your sig…

My very deepest condolences. A good dog is indeed the very best of friends, and 22 years is a hell of a long stretch for any breed. I already dread the day when my “little man”, Pokey, leaves me behind. Sounds like you had a great run there, and I have a hunch that he will indeed be waiting for you in the afterlineup.

A tear for shelby.

I’m sorry, Herb.

Its true: there’s no friend quite like a good dog.

Thanks , Everyone…

dogs are great!..GOD IS GREAT!

Sorry for your dog, Herb. How great dogs are, the little things dog pull off just makes life interesting. 22 years . . . sucks when a family member passes, but Heaven’s not a bad place either. Treasure those memories of Shelby and thanks for your help.

Mine’s almost 7 years old. Yes is true sometimes that sometimes dogs just help you out where people can’t . . . dozens of times I’ve came home bummed out, and all my dog has to do is grab his favorite toy and drop it on my feet. It was funny, because most of the time I have to take it away from him if I want it. Got my mind off things, and things look alot better with a clear mind after playing catch with the old hound.

Herb,

Hey Herb, sorry to here that , you know how D and I felt about Shelby. I will always remember late afternoon almost sunset looking down at Sandollar from the stairs and just you and Shelby fishing alone on the whole beach.

Kirk,

I tripped over her in my shop last night, and this morning she kept clawing at me to wake up and let her out.

ps I’m okay, just some phantom pains…by-the-way…my girls want to name a new dog when we get one “Ginger”.That’s something they came up with…w/o my influence.

Herb,

sorry from me too, never knew the dog but I like most all of them. My girlfriend’s 16yr old pug (that she’d rescued when it was 8) died a year two back and she was having the same thing as you- would wake up hearing it scratch to get out or see it sleeping in it’s spot in her studio out of the corner of her eye. I’m with the girl’s on the name Ginger though- good reason to get a new one.

Thanks …

Coming to this late -

Herb, my best wishes to you. Hang in as best you can.

My ol’ beast, Sam the Surf Dog, well, he’s 14 now, old for a retriever. He stumbles a bit, breathes funny now and then, still tries to be a pup, and yes, my heart breaks a little every time, fearing the day when he won’t be there.

They give us everything they have. And we give 'em so little.

doc…

Give him a big hug for you and him…when the time comes he’ll let you know…and know this…you have friends here…you guys were a big part in keeping me from going over the edge.(my daughters too)
