Also, I really like Foam Corps yellow foam and can't front them enough.  It is light, crisp & strong.  They have a 6'8 SBP blank and if you ask for it in the natural rocker it will suit your needs to a T!!  I really like their foam in this blank.  It nets out a 6'8 with a decent 4 +4oz glass job in the 5 lb. range.

I'd like to try the Foam Corps stuff. I never see it in Mitch's, so I'll look around to see who has it in no. SD county. When I was setting up the shop, I noticed that i still have a 6'10 Just Foam fish blank in the rafters. Bought that back in the post-Clark hard-to-find foam days. If I remember, it was pretty quality foam, but it is definitely not close tolerance.

this was designed 4 big waves but i surf it in knee high as well. is a 6 6 . i have refined this one for hotdogging on head high days

the hotdog version is 6 3  has a thinner tail with more tail rocker and more of a round tail and concave

you find you wont shape much out of the main foot traffic area with the fish blank , i would use that one possibley. i generally use 6 8s to 6 10s and shape a much shorter board from it… or mow fish blanks to get the width

Here are the pics.  The first is a 7'0 wide point back 3" that I surfed in the Mentawaii's 2 yrs ago and is still there and going strong. (Hollow, hollow, hollow)  The second is my personal 6'8 that I surfed in O'side recently and had a fair amount of fun on. :-)  It is wide point back 2".  The third is a 6'6" wide boy at 21" + that was shaped for French beachies and is presently on tour aboard a USMarine warship. (Long story, but wide point back 2")  BKB

Awesome boards, buddy. Willing to sell? Of course not!! Your 7'0 looks much like my 7'0 mini gun. My current Oside 6'8 is here. It is Your 6'6 is about what I'm looking for now. It is 20.25 with the wide point -1. What's the tail and nose width on the 6'6?

Dennis;

Don't bother with looking at Mitch's.  Google Surfblanks America.  That's Foam Corps.  They are right by you, maybe 15 minutes away or so in O'side. Give them a call and you should be able to order up what you need.  They are really nice folks.  The 6'6" is around a 12" nose and 14.5" tail.  I would need to look up the order to be more specific.  I hope you got the Shape 3D file I sent you.  You can tweek it shorter, wider and play with the nose & tail width to get something you like.  Save the Just Foam for a real fish board.  You don't want to cut it down too much.  It will end up sucking resin and be heavier than you want.  I was sad when Scot went out of business.

Gonna go get my 6'8 sbp today. These are also cheaper. You mention the yellow density, which is the lightest one. Is it still strong? I use the US red, because the orange mushes up much qucker.

yeah wats the rocker figures on that. should be good for a 6 2 perhaps

6 6 is about 6 inches too long for your hight for a hpsb, dats a gun really . if you ride 6 6 at your hight you will be surfing it off the tail which makes it not a shortboard really

for under DOH ripping

the dts and the bottled lightning but thicker and wider in the nose for your size. if you go long you may as well just buy a longboard

Wound up with this-6.5 1/2 Sauritch Enabler. I was going to get an Arcitic Foam blank, and Greg actually shapes there. I told him about the shape/waves I had in mind, and he was so excited about a model he had I got this from him. This will be the first non self-made board I've ridden (let alone owned) in over 10 years, and I'm stoked to give it a test run. Although I really want to shape my own boards, it also feels good to give business to cool people. Greg is really a great guy, and this board didn't cost a whole lot more than making it myself. 13.5 X 21 X 15.25 X 2.75.

nice one mate . more people shud be riding them .but then again id rather be paddling past em!!

btw 3  to 3 and 1/8 thick with thickness in the nose is still all good

Here’s a old guy surfing on a 5’8" x 18 5/8" x 2 5/16"

Kind regards,

The Sauritch Enabler is a great choice, I love mine, I've ridden it as a thruster, a quad, a quad with a nubster, and a twin with a nubster, but like it as a quad the best. Mine is a 7'2"  and I like it so much that I shaped a smaller version (6'7") for myself. I changed the fin set up a bit beacuse Greg used the McKee fin set up and I've spun out a few times on hard bottom turns, so on my copy, I used the Hanalei fin set up. I love them both, no problems paddling or carching waves. Greg is an amazing shaper with 41,000 plus boards to his credit.

hi ding how old and what weight

sure thing i can pretty much ride anything but i prefer massive wave counts to a few hot turns. ill go snowboarding if i want to do airs lol

This guy, Joe Blair gets it. He understands big guy requirements. If anyone wants to understand what 110kg/242lb plus guys need, Joe Blair does. Pity he doesn’t live in NZ.
