Shortboard wide point

I’m in the design phase for a 6’2" conventional shortboard. It’ll be for a 145lb male rider surfing hollowish pacific reef break. I’m wondering what the conventional wisdom is for a wide point on a board like this. Just behind center? How far? Somewhere else on the board? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I downloaded the www.APS3000.com software. Yikes! It’s very cool!

Depends…

You want it to handle big surf with aplomb, move WP 4" forwards of center.

You want it to turn on a dime for it’s size, quick snappy trick surfing in small waves, move WP 4" behind center.

Don’t have to be 4, could be any number YOU decide since you know how the guy surfs, what size he surfs, and what style he likes.
