how smelly / itchy was it to foil and cut ?

Hey Ben, as mentioned above, it's an epoxy/ fiberglass panel laminated then put under pressure. I believe it's 2 oz cloth. G-10 is sold in thin to thick sheets. For FCS, I purchased 1/4" material and it's almost a perfect fit. Sometimes you have to sand a bit off to get it to fit the slots. The 425 area code is Washington state, USA. You may try a search for G-10 sheets in Oz. I tried it for you but didn't have any luck up here in the states. It's great stuff for fins, very strong and pretty easy to foil. I foil with 100-150 grit on a medium pad and they come out just about ready to ride with minimal cleanup. Just have to be careful not to nick the pad.

G10 foils really nice with a sanding backing pad on a 4" grinder and one of those resin impregnated hard pads:

Finish it up with a softer pad and some higher grit.

Fins look great Camplus...

Thanks guys.  I've been working quietly for a while just doing custom orders.  Finally got around to making some of the fins I've been wanting to...

Looks like I'll have to re-learn how to post on Sway's now.

Gorgeous stuff Michael! and inspiring…I’ve got a couple apple burls that could be pretty cool, hadn’t figured what to do with them. Gears are churning! Made any more hollow rail boards? We’ve missed you around here!

A few recent ones for the rack at the local glasser. Looking forward to seeing the colors pop with resin, but I don’t do poly in my shop.

Walnut, basswood, mahogany

Walnut, redwood, basswood, with a mahogany core.

basswood, walnut, mahogany.

Thanks for the kind words guys.  It's always inspiring to see what's goin on here at sways.  Plenty of new talent and the locals have definitely been upping the game!  Thanks Mike for helping with the pics, and those new layups of your fins are looking great.  Can't wait to see what they look like when the resin hits em'.

Haven't had much time to work on boards lately.  Last one I (re)shaped was a snapped poly longboard I found in a lagoon after our hurricane in Oaxaca - glassed with boatyard supplies from the local Yamaha tienda... Kind of reminded me of my early teen projects, only with a much cleaner shape to glass over.
