Show us your Posca Pen work!

Fingers crossed this will work.

Hello everybody. Only recently become aware of the wonders of the site but have been surfing longer. Have finished the artwork on two boards recently (one shaped by myself, my first) and thought it about time to share them with the wider world. Would be great to see other Posca Pen work as well. Cheers Patrick

My own egg

It works! Easy thanks to FAQ instructions. Cheers patrick

Hello Patrick welcome to Swaylocks!  Awesome work.  Tell us about the board you shaped.  Did you glass it as well?  Very nice stuff!  Click here for more surfboard artwork: http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1012535  - Huck

Howzit patrick, First I would like to welcome you to Swaylock's the best surfboard building webste in the cyber world. If you start looing through the archives for the artwork we have done through the years, there is enough to keep you busy looking for days. I can see that you definitely are an artist with talent and you wil be amazed at some of the artwork that has been posted through the years. I would tell you to start with the thread abut what are you working on since it is still an active thread. Aloha,Kokua

Cheers guys, It would appear I have broken Forum Rules on first visit! Sorry. Thanks for directing me to the live thread, have posted pics on that now. Hopefully post some more there in the near future.

The black decal is printed from home PC onto rice paper placed under the glass and the Posca Pen work is covered with an acrylic spray laquer ( about 3 coats- 1 Can) then a very light rub with 800 wet and dry. Easy

Oooops forgot that bit! Switched them to http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1012535 .There is some of Huck’s work and older stuff of mine there as well.

Cheers patrick

Aloha, was wondering what you’ve been using to seal those graphics. Clear spray on enamel, or is it under the glass?

Howzit patrick, I don't see you have broken any rules and you just need to learn how to use the site so you can get the most out of it. Now where did you switch you post to with the pictures. Aloha,Kokua

I wanna start putting this kinda pen work on rice paper under the glass, or drawing straight onto the foam with ink or brush. The only hang up here is that it’s kinda hard to draw with the detail of a Micron 05 on anything but paper. Paint pens don’t feel the same. Wanna find a way to transfer my illustration to surfboard graphics.

Also like this, in Sharpie pen. Is there a discussion thread on here about board art, best pigment medium for foam, glass and wood, and the use of resin colorants and paint?

I can only comment on what I have used so here goes…

i) Sharpies Water colour paints, as used by Drew Brophy, are great but sadly no longer being made!!

ii) Posca pens work. I have only used them ontop of glass but as they are acrylic they should work directly on the foam.

iii) Posca come in a wide variety of sizes. Check out http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/POSCA_Markers.html

iv) If you are struggling with detail why not project it onto the board and make it massive? Just a thought.

Good luck, nice art! Happy New Year
