Thanks for the kind words.
When you glass clear shortboards all day everyday, your mind can start to wander a bit…
ah, nevermind…
Thanks Ken,
I think mine looks pretty silly.
Since I was going for so many colors I decided to take advantage of the 60F year round temps at my house. With epoxy the colder temps give you plenty of working time and makes the first batch of epoxy on your board thicker. I heat up the resin part before I mix and put it on the board. The fresh resin is thinner so it does not mix–mud up with the colder thick resin on the board. After I am done I put it in a heated shed to cure.
Resin fun.
My latest swirl on 9’2" longboard, sorry for the poor picture quality.
Another one just finished.
The resin swirls on here are amazing. I think that using UV cure has held me back with experimenting with colors, but it make glassing easier. I painted black stripes onto the foam and did a blue resin over. still need final sanding/polish…
Lovinlife,
Scroll back through this thread and you'll see plenty of nice swirls done with UV. I personally think it helps me because it takes that ticking clock out of my head and lets me slow down. I use translucent (tints) vs. Pigments (opague). The UV has no problem curing. I have also played with mixing white or black pigments with just a very small amount of MEKP in them, no problem at all.
BTW Good looking board !
Woody
some great looking board on there guys keep them coming
heres one of my latest resin tints its my thrid attempt at resin tints it was a bit easier than the last two as it only on the deck only finished this one to 800girt no gloss on this one either

First thing that came to mind was that it looked like something that Ambrose might have done
your stuff always looks fantastic Rob…
Now that you’re on this side of the pond, I’d love to drop by sometime and take a look in person…
Not mine but, this looks stunning:
And, I’m digging the “smoke” on this one:

Super! Those pins are killer! How do you guys get the tints so red? Seems like everytime I play with red it comes out pink! Any tips?
Thats some nice pins with a nice rich Red tint.
Woody Looks like Ken used the right amount of red tint. LOT’S. I like adding some orange tint to my red. It makes it looks more Firetruck Red. Like adding a little violet to blue makes Electric Blue. I really don’t like out of the can tints. I like to mix it up.
Nice job Ken
