Quanta…nice work!
Thanks.
This board was actually ‘cloned’ First time I ever did such a thing.
Looks familiar Dave…I’m sure I repaired that tip for Diverse a while back…one of CG’s shapes ?
Kayu. let me explain ‘clone’ I’ve used an old favorite as a plug. I’ve molded the deck and rails and filled in the guts. done a quick shape of the EPS and then thrown a skin of Cedar over the bottom.
Let me present the clone and the cloned.
Having a bit of trouble uploading picture.
Try again
2nd try.
once more…
I’ve had some frustration with pic posting also…
Here’s what I think needs to be done -
Check that “Input format” is on “Simple Editor”
Go “File attachments” , choose your pics from your folder. Click “attach”
Check “list” next to each pic as they come up in the box below your post.
Then post comment.
testing…testing…
A twin pair of skins for a quiver, 6’1 and 7’4. Thanks Geoff Moase “Dovetail” for prompt supply of fresh cuts of Paulownia.
Try emailing the photo to yourself , to resize it…there’s probably better ways to do it , but it always worked for me…I’m not all that computer literate…(lol)
Ok … Gonna try this again.
Like father and son
So I hope you can see what I’ve done here. The board at the top was coated in a brush coat of PVA release agent. The vital organs [fins] were surgicly removed to get it into the Vax box, before which of course the deck and rails are layed up in 3.2 Cedar [radially cut] one layer of the fabric we all know and despise [solution for that coming soon;)] with a fair dolloping of poo glue.
Pull her out of the Box and fill her up with EPS. I’ve followed the deck curve fairing out the foam so the board is concave except at the nose and tail. Good friend Dorris tells me this works.
I felt so bad about pulling the teeth [the fins] on the old board I was compelled to replace them on the newby. These boards are almost identical 'cept for the bottom shape and the fact that the son is now exactely 6mm bigger all round . Signs of the times eh!
This is an experimental SB … I went to the transit centre to get it weighed the other day but … well I think they shifted it to who know where. When I find a decent scale I’ll think she’ll come in about 2.5 KG or less maybe. Not that it matters because of bouyancy . Wood floats better than Fibreglass and EPS better than PU. That’s why the son clone is less than 50mm[er 2 inches for our wayward American friends] think Anybody want to test this clone…? You’re free to anytime here on the Goldie. If you google Grant Newby’s Wooden Surfboard site my email is there down the page a bit and you can find me there… on FB.
PS thanks guys for the help with the pic posting info.
Cheers.
love the reverse gunny-simmons, speedneedle! mind sharing its rocker pics too?
cheers,
8ft…9ft…9’4"…10’6" …what happened to “file attachments” ?
