Sidebites, how small is too small

I’ve just finished a pair of side bites. They are one tabbers and measure 2 1/2 base, 2 3/4 high, with about an inch of rake. I will post pics soon. I plan on using them when the waves are steep, just to give some extra hold on a single fin. I might also be able to use them as twinzer leading fins hopefully. So, my question i guess is, are they too small??

Some pics. I cut the fins down out of some glassed on fins i took off a dinged up board.

The black fin is a G5.

Looks like the makings of something like a Parmenter “Widowmaker.” I’ve seen pics of one of his personal boards that had a very similar set up with single tab FCS attachment like yours. The fins themselves were pretty close as well.

What’s the downside of using one FCS plug per fin???

Any thing less that 2" x 2" is not going to give you much.

Herb, i purposely made them so small as i dont want them to have too much input to the board. I have a 7’6’’ that has a thruster centre fin only, and i find that i have “slipped” down the face quite a bit lately on it, so im thinking of putting one fcs plug on each side of the board, to see if these small fins will stop that from happening. If they work, i will use them on a single fin in steep waves.

Your’s are plenty big enough for what you want.

let me know and i can send you a few if you want , mark ?

cheers
