There’s been a lot of interest in Bob Simmons designs, and what boards would be like if had lived longer.
I think a more realistic view would be what would surfboards be like if MP didn’t get hooked on heroin. Seems like his designs in the early 70’s are somewhat related to what Kelly Slater found to work well, except that 3 fins seem to work better than one 12" fin. Narrow, and thin.
Another thought is what would surfboards be like if GG kept standing up?
Bloody good question sharky - three boundary riders, each working their own frontiers. As for George, forget standing, I reckon all he ever wanted was to ‘be’ a board…looking forward to interesting feedback.
Gary…if you are not a kneeboarder, that is very perceptive. Describing the difference the other day to someone, I said that riding a longboard was two-part harmony [hopefully!], but when riding my kneeboard we became one…I am the six million dollar man!!..where my board went so did I…just feels more organic.
Are you related to Dan?
Sorry…I digress…
