hi, i’m just wondering if there is relationship between single fin height > and the board’s height. for an example 8’ egg will be using a 8" > fin??? thanks for all the help. I don’t really know the answer to your question but…I do have a 5’8" G&S with an 8" fin almost identical to the fin on my 7’Harbour Spherical Revolver and my 6’4" Evolution Double Ender. All of the fins look pretty much identical. Like the Harbour HP. Does anyone know what this G&S board is? 5’8" yellow resin tint, black pinlines, stringerless, round-round-pin, almost identical to both the Harbour SR and the Evolution DblEnder. Thanks for the info on the posts I had earlier. I am still looking for a planer drum, grithead. I am in the United States. I think Rabbit had me confused with someone else.
There is no simple arithmetic solution for sizing fins. Board configuration is what dictates fin selection, i.e. in the seven to eight foot range there are such a variety of boards it is very much a matter of customization to conditions and surf style one stick selection and the fins to suit all of the above. Has to do with the width of your tail there Bertha! … have fun the weight of the tail, so if i have 14" tail should i get 7" fin??
hi, i’m just wondering if there is relationship between single fin height > and the board’s height. for an example 8’ egg will be using a 8" > fin??? thanks for all the help. tail template, width, rail type and rocker all play a roll in fin selection.I suggest starting out with a 9" L-flex by True Ames, and go from there.Start it out towards back of box and move it forward a 1/4" at a time and notice how it changes performance of board.I ride round, hull bottomed boards from 7’ to 9’, all with some type of 9" fin, similar to the one I mentioned above but with slight changes in foil, base width, rake, and flex depending on the board it is used in.experiment and have fun with it!
