i am about to finish up an 8’6" pintail. i wasn’t sure what size fin to go with. i would be riding about 3-4’ waves. i was thinking an 8"???
Everyone has their own formula for fin size…the easiest is to go buy a few different sizes and try them out. What works for others may not work for you. Plus the trial and error is kinda fun…pawn off those extra long sessions as R&D.

Here are a few thoughts: Bottom and rail configuration will have much to do with what size fin will work. Also there are 8’6"s of many widths and thicknesses, which also plays a part, not to mention the type of waves you’ll be surfing and your level of ability. Mahalo, Rich
