so I’ve read all the info out there on this, and jsut cant make up my mind. I want somethign fast and fun, and true to the original 70’s design. I have shaped a hws from the 5’11’’ jim kinstle fish template. I upped it to 6’4’’ to make it more of an all around board for here on the east cost…well thats why I’m saying its that length…I really forgot about the butt crack when I made the center stinger for the frame…oopps…
so i’m sticking with the exact fin shape jim originally had, totally “D” keels, I have already single foiled them, becasue thats whats on my early 80’s sunset twinny that I love. But, they also have rake to them and are toed in at about 1/8th an inch…
What do I do??//argh!!! I can double foil the ones i already have singled, and that will make up for the 1/4 inch glass bead and the size will be the same, or just go with it. I just dont want it to suck…I have put a ton of time into this board.
hi , double foil , no tow is the way to go , single foil and towed and its just too loose, i have surfed both and prefare the feel of the double foil, but thats my opiniun and you know what they say about opiniuns ,pete
started sanding the single foils to double…losing about 1/4 inch per side, figure i’ll make up the size loss with the glassing…goign to stay true to the original design, double foil, and straightwith the stringer…just seams right with the design…thanks for all the input…
