My measurementa are based on a combination of translating inches to decimal and then once more translating that decimal number into a visual representation of the actual measurement.
6’10" would be written 6.10
6’4" wold be 6.4 (which technicall is greater than 6.10 but we are going for a visual representation of the inch number
Sooo if 6’1" is 6.1, then 6.05 would be how i translate six foot
and one/half inch
Yes technically it is not correct but visually it’s anothe way to interpret it.
personally, i’d just write it up as 6’1" (6’0+1/2" on the shape, then add a little extra for glass…i figure the finished product will be closer to 6’1")
Drew, the problem with your convertion is that it you are the only one using the system so it makes it impossible for others to figure out what you mean. If you convert 1/2" to decimal you still get 0.5" which is totally different than .05"
Best way is to avoid decimals and fractions on the length, like Soulstice said, or just convert everything into inches…ie 72.5"
Patrick. even if you do write the correct measurement he wanted… Do make sure that you are measuring the length from the top side to get a overall length… that dude just might get out at tape measure to make sure it is exactly right on the mark.
who cares what we right on the stringer 6’0 1/2 x 6’0.5 i know i dont and i dont think about it that hard. so long as the dimensions are right what does it matter. if they have a question about it later, they will get out the tape.
Why is this guy so intent on the 1/2"? Does he really think he can tell the difference between a 6’ and a 6’ + 1/2"? Is he really that good or is he just an obsessive/compulsive?
Sorry about the questions but when someone starts worrying more about the 1/2" increment than the way the board rides, I would questions their sanity. (P.S. I’m referring to your client, not you.)
so different way to write this size ,but i wrote 6’1/2’’ correct or don’t ,the problem are this people, like to make me crazy sometime ,for sure if i was merrick and write like this ,no bodody wil do any questions.
the blanks on the rack ,is souht coast foam ,from australia.
On a related note a 6ft board is refered to by local surfers when speaking as a six owe. Surely an o (owe) is a letter not a number. Try dictating a password down the phone with zero’s in it and calling them owes and see how far that gets you. I vote for 6’ 1/2" and no mixing of imperial and metric.
