i was woundering if anyone know how to make a board that feels and rides like a skateboard (im a huge skater and i skate better then i surf)i know about the noseless’s but do they really ride like and skatboard (i can’t try one out no one near me owns one and shops round me dont have them. also i was thinking about making one of thouse homedepot blanks, but shape it like a skateboard but only about a foot bigger but have it have concave (the lenght wise rails on a skateboard)and make it a thruster, i just want to hear what you guys think about it. the board would be the same as a normal surfboard from the bottom but have it the same shape as a skateboard. and feel to it but just have it bigger. o yah i dont have to worry to much about it floating cuz im realy light (105 lbs) but im 14 years old this would be my 3rd board shaped (not glassed i dont trust my self) any thought are welcome but go easy i didnt really think it through but it sound like it might work
o yeah it would be a round 3 inches thick and just to experamint on waist high days
A skateboard shape won’t make it feel like riding a skateboard. Make it a regular shortboard shape, but make it a twin fin or a twinzer. Since you are light you can experiment with going shorter and narrower. I would go thinner instead of thicker to get more of a skateboard feel, or if you are set on making it thick, at least taper the rails a lot, or use S-rails. Concave deck will be good.
i think i’ll do that but still make a the board i was thinking about with the extra foam just to see if it would even ride decent but make it thiner. thanks

A skateboard turns on 2 pivots, surfboards pivot from the tail…what you would need to create would be a hydrofoil setup, turning from the front and the back, steering by side to side motion, but you’d need a tow…

I have done those. . . a hydrofoil front and back. . . and it did feel like skateboarding, they were paddle in boards too.
I have mentioned this lots of times but no one has ever shown the slightest bit of interest !

I’m interested too Roy, I designed an ice skateboard ages ago, replacing the wheels with 4" convex ice blades, worked a treat too. Had to put a leash on it though, the rink management thought it might fly off an kill someone… A bit hard to push off as well…

were they the double ended ones with the flipped nose and flipped tail [like a skatey] ?
From memory , they had small fins on the nose and tail [like a kiteboard] .
Christian Fletcher [?I think it was? ] and a few other skaters were featured riding these things in one of the american surf mags a few years ago …
is that the board you mean by “noseless ? [these boards had , I seem to remember , squared off noses and tails , not unlike a snowboard / sandboard / kiteboard / skateboard , and were maybe 5’6” or so .

I will have to make some more drawings, back when we made those setups we didn’t even have a camera, and I sent the original drawings to a surfing mag. I have some fish plans to draw and then will get straight onto it this weekend.

thanks i really wanta get all the ideas that sound reasonable and put them together and see wut i come up with but i’m proably going to make that quad and see if i like the feel
