Skil 100 Grit Barrel

They are hard to come by and Shapers Australia runs out of them almost as soon as they get in a new batch, but after jumping a few hurdles DHL got it to me.

The beginnings of the best vacuum system available for hand shapers or CNC.

Thank you Rock and Sea and Shapers Australia. Oh! And of course Harbor Freight.

I have a cyclone like that on a 5 gallon bucket (Dust Deputy) hooked to a 5 gallon vac with a HEPA filter, works great but is noisy. I imagine yours will be q-u-i-e-t…

Can’t wait to see the final system. I see two vac hoses with Rock and Sea planer dust collector adapters. Is one for a Hitachi and one for a Skil 100?

No. I bought extra. I use two Skils. I have a second bay and may put one in there. I have been looking at Whole House Vacums for a long time. Primarily because they are strong and very quiet. I actually have a third hose.

To anyone in my area (Oregon) I do have an extra Rock and Sea Garage flex hose that is available and for sale. I would say that their hose appears to be the best hose available.

Yes, the only thing I have not worked out yet is what to do with the 16’ cord on my Skil. If I only use one planer It doesn’t matter, but if I use two and switch between a Skil with blades and a Skil with a grit barrel, the cord becomes an issue. The remedy would be to run a cord overhead that is stationery and plugs into a 6” cord at the planer. Then if I switch planers it’s an easy unplug and switch. Have, not brought myself to the mindset of cutting those 16’ cords at six inches yet though.

But of course if I do away with blades all-together and go to two Skils both with Grit Barrels then it doesn’t matter. That’s my thinking. But don’t bother contacting me and asking if I will sell my bladed Skil 100 cutter head. That’s not gonna happen.
