hi i have been looking for a skil for a while now like alot of people but not living in the us. makes it alot harder. i have however just come across skil nederland, it looks to be a companey that produces the same stuf under licence or something. the one i have seen is marked as a 100h and is 4.7a and 220v. it looks almost identical to what you normaly see ecept the handle doesnt rap all the way down to the bottom its more of a pistol grip looking thing.
I had one of these that I got from an old boat carpenter from Norway. It was basically an American skil100 with a euro conversion. Motor, cutterhead were different than US models. I ended up using the shoe on another planer.
I guess it would work OK in europe. The depth lever is the same. I dont think a sanding drum will work as the shaft in the cutterhead is not the same (longer)…nor is the drive sprocket.
cool many thanks im actualy in the uk, i think im going to pass on this one and find one on ebay in the usa, as i am over in florida after christmas so can bring it back with me. which would mean idealy going the other way with the motor or geting a transformer to run it from. Just trying to hunt a good one down in time now and then maybe get it surviced or buy all the bits to do it before bringing it home.
Amps x Volts= Watts. Watts is power. This is good formula to know for anyone's lifetime of electric use, automotive, household, alternative energy...................
sorry i should have been more clear i am aware it = more or less power was wondering more of the bennafits/disadvantages when shaping as odviosly foam requires alot less power to cut than foam.
