I was recently given a skil 1535 planer and before I use it I wanted to see if anyone knows if it a suitable planer or am I going to end up with a lot of shredded foam? Any info on it is appreciated, thanks!
While I wasn't familiar with that particular number, having a look at http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/skil/1535_TYPE_1 tells me that's a pretty much average plastic 3 1/4" planer of which there's lots out there that many have used successfully. The Skil is no better and no worse than a lot of 'em. And you can't beat the price.
Keep sharp blades in it, you could do worse....
